TPS65279: Current Sharing Operation use different PVIN1 and PVIN2

If TPS65279 can use different PVIN1 and PVIN2 to get one output power in shareModeOperation ?That‘s it,PVIN1=5.2V,PVIN2=5V,Vout=4V,Iout=4A,Iout1=Iout2=2A. just like this:

The reason I'm doing this is Vin1 and Vin2 only can get 5-5.2V 2A. The load need 4V 4A. So I want using Vin1 and Vin2 supply to load together. Please let me know if there is any other way，Thanks。

Dear Sir,

Typically we would recommend the current sharing work as the figure in the datasheet with VIN connect together. In theory, it's not impossible to work with 5Vin1 and 5.2Vin2 but I would recommend you can check with EVM board to see whether the current sharing is ideally 2A + 2A.

If buck1 and buck2 will work together when current sharing operation ？Why buck1 and buck2 can shareing current ？Is it the reason that there are current value detector for each channel and comparator for buck1 and buck2 inside？As I konw, many multi-phase DC/DC is open-loop control for current shareing. They have not comparator for every buck . So TPS65279 is different from other multi-phase DC/DC ？

Dear Sir,

As TPS65279 uses peak current mode control method, the two buck converters can be paralleled together to provide large current. And yes, there are special design internal the device for example the current detector and the comparator to ensure the current sharing of two Buck converters.

sorry. I have another question.

In datasheet, " in current sharing mode, buck1 will be used; " that means buck2 will not work just only buck1 work in current sharing mode ?

Dear Sir,

Both Buck1 and Buck 2 will operate. Here I suspect it means the control loop is based on Buck1. But the power stage includes both Buck1 and Buck2. Thank you!
