Hi,
I have query about recommend layout for DC DC converter. In pcb layout, what should be there below Switching node i.e. inner layers.? I have gone through TI recommend layout which has ground plane below Switch node.
Due to pcb constraints, Is it ok to leave empty/void i.e. no copper plane below SW node and inductor? Will it have bad results?
Thanks,
P B S Varma.
Hi Sandeep,
A GND plane below the inductor us typically recommended, although leaving a void on the second layer (directly below the component) is fine as well.
I recommned using hte LM5145 and LM5146 EVMs as good layout templates - copy them as much as possible.
Regards,
Tim
