Tool/software:
How does the TPS25751 manage sourcing from both PP5V and VSYS(PPHV) when used for USB-OTG (sourcing) applications?
I'm pairing the TPS25751 with the BQ25731 for a power-only bidirectional charging application similar to reference design PMP41062.
I'd like the BQ25731 to do the heavy lifting for USB-OTG and would like to design my PP5V power supply for only the minimum required current budget.
So for example, if my TPS25751 PP5V supply is only rated for 100mA (to support VConn), but the downstream sink is requesting 5V@3A, can the TPS25751 configure the BQ25731 to source this load?
The datasheet reads as if VSYS (PPHV) cannot be used as a source. Can anyone confirm??
Hi Joshua,
Thank you for reaching out!
The TPS25751 can source 5V/3A (and higher) through VSYS (PPHV) when paired with a battery charger. This is configured in Transmit Source Capabilities register 0x32, where PP3 (PPHV) is set to be the power path for PDO1 (5V/3A).
Please let me know if you have additional questions/concerns.
Best Regards,
