TPS63070: [TPS630702] Questions about Discharging Operation

Part Number: TPS63070

Tool/software:

Hello.
This is Kwonjoon Lee from South Korea.

I would like to ask about TPS630702's discharging operation (triggered by the EN pin).

(Detailed Situation)

1. My TPS630702's output is connected to (a input of) LDO such as TPS7A4901 which has light load.
2. I have a plan to disable TPS630702 by pulling down TPS630702's EN pin to 0V before turning off the input of TPS630702 (4V).

(Questions)

1. I would like to ask if the 200ohm resistor (ROD) is automatically connected to TPS630702's output
(when the EN of TPS630702 is pulled down to 0V), thereby facilitating discharging of TPS630702's output.

2. I would like to ask if the output of the LDO (whose load current is very small, and whose EN pin is connected to the input of LDO) can be
discharged through the 200ohm resistor (ROD) and a power clamp diode (between the input and output of the LDO) in the case that
LDO's input voltage < LDO's output voltage which is caused by TPS630702's fast output discharging.

Best regards,
Kwonjoon Lee

  • Hi  Lee,

For your first question, yes, it is, once device is disabled, discharge function will be enabled.

For you second question, i think it depend on the LDO you are using, if there is an internal diode from Vout to Vin in LDO, then, yes, the output of LDO will be discharged too.

    Regards
