The answer to this question is in the datasheet on page 35 in the section titled, "7.5.1 Serial Interface"
What is the intention of pulling SSN low? You will not save power as the current going through this pin is negligible.
In the future, this varies by device, so it is always important to read through the datasheet to verify.
