TLV62568: FB open case study

Part Number: TLV62568

Tool/software:

please let me know below case.

Material name:TLV62568PDRLR

Schematic using below datasheet typical case.

Vin=3.3V, EN=High, Iout=max1A, Inductor2.2uH

Please let me know device behavior when FB was open ?

my customer use case was 1.9V output and Tc(thermal of package top) was around 140degree.

I suppose this is right behavior and chip internal thermal shutdown circuit is turned -on.

please kindly advice

  • Hi Hironori,

the TLV62568 will go into 100% Duty Cycle Low Dropout Operation without the feedback connection in general.

According the data sheet if the device reaches about 150°C the terminal shutdown circuit is turned on.

You should check the output voltage to identify the status of the device.

    Best regards,
    Sepp

  • As I mentioned my original thread, 1.9V output voltage with Tc140degree we confirmed on the actual case when we cut FB line.

Please double check it is right behavior nor not?  I expectation is Yes.

  • Hi Hironori,

    This is the right behavior.

Without the terminal shutdown we should see 3.3V on the output but due to the higher output voltage, the output current would be much higher than 1A (This depends on the type of load!) and the device is going into the terminal shutdown mode. This results in a output voltage of 1.9V.

    Best regards,
    Sepp
