BQ25300: bq25300

Part Number: BQ25300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25308

Tool/software:

Hi, blow is bq25300 charger ckt using in our project.

When Charger is disabling mode, mean not connecting input 5V, it consumes 5- 6mA Current. Sō my device is battery operated, and 5-6 ma is critical when device in sleep mode. So please suggest how to reduce the current.

I measure the POL and EN PINS voltage are 0V When charger is disable mode .

when Enable mode POL =4.6V and EN 0v.and charging the battery fine no issue .

Thanks, and Regards

  • Hi Durga,

We will get back to you early next week.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,
it is high priority for us. Please help us. When Vbus is removed bq25300 in HiZ mode as per datasheet . My problem is even when HiZ mode also it consumes 5 mA current beacuse battery voltge moved to sw1&2(pin13&14 ) through inductor. So placed diode before the battery voltage .But even still some voltage flowing through inductor (3.45v)again it consumption is 5 ma.So give me suggestion how to reduce it

  • Hi,

Could you please measure the VBUS pin voltage when battery only?

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,

VBUS PIN voltage when battery only 0V.

in the datasheet  mentioned that A 7-mA pull-down current is on the BAT pin once BAT_OVP
is triggered. BAT_OVP may be triggered in charging mode, termination mode, and fault mode What it means it continuously takes 7 ma when battery connected. Clarifyit.

  • Hi  Ning,

    Hi Ning,

VBUS PIN voltage when battery only 0V. Below are the voltage levels when battery connect only (No input voltage 5V)

    1 VBUS: 0V

    2.REGN: 0V

    3.STAT  0V

    4.ICHG: 0V

    5 POL: 0V

    6.EN: 0V

    7.TS:0V

    9.VSET: 0V

    10 VBAT: 4.087V

    13&14 SW1&2: 4.087V

    15.BTST:3.77V

    16. PMID: 3.8V

  • Hi Durga,

BAT_OVP does not apply to battery only.

We tried your test condition and do not see your observation. Please double-check your board if anything else is pulling current from the battery.

    Thanks a lot,

    Ning

  • Hi Ning,
My device when sleep mode consumes 2.5mA with out battery Charger circuit .When connect the battery charger circuit it will takes 7.75mA.As per my observation when ever VBUS is disconnected BQ25300 will be in HIZ mode .But battery voltage move back to SW1&SW2(Pin 13&14) through inductor .
So i put diode between inductor output and battery ,so that battery voltage will not go reverse. But no useful due to battery voltage sense at BAT pin 10.
So please provide the solution when ever VBUS is disconnected Bq25300 will be in disable mode and consume less the 1A.blow schematic

  • Hi Durga,

    1. When tested on the BQ25308 EVM, the battery current is much less than 1mA.

    2. If the BQ25308 is removed from your board, what will be the battery current?

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,

i already mentioned in previous mail when i remove the BQ25300 from my board i will take 2.5mA on battery and bq25300 connected it will take 7.75mA on battery.

You are saying <1ma when VBUS is not given confirm it.

Give voltages at sw1&sw2 and BTST, PMID when battery connected to BAT pin and VBUS =0V.Pllease review the schematic once if need any changes.

below are voltages getting in our board when VBUS =0V   VBAT=4,08V

    VBAT: 4.087V

    13&14 SW1&2: 4.087V

    15.BTST:3.77V

    16. PMID: 3.8V

So please provide correct solution because we are needed to go mass production in next week. So, help me on high priority. if provide any skype and Teams'd i will contact. immediately.

  • Hi Durga,

Did you observe similar battery current on multiple boards?

    Thanks,

    Ning.
