UCD90160: Boot up and Rail #1 startup time

Hello,

How long does the UCD90160 take to boot up/configure itself when Vin = 3.3V is applied?

For our design, Rail#1 does not have a dependency and is supposed to start immediately after the UCD90160 chip is powered on and ready to go.

However on a board we see that the rail comes up after 20 ms, on another board it is 160 ms.

What could be reason for the two different start up times considering both boards have been programmed with the same UCD image?

Hi,

Depends on your configuration and the environment, boot up time might be varied. Upon reset, device load configuration from NVM to RAM, initialize variables, turn rails on if configuration say so, monitor rails (Voltage, Current, Temperature) for faults, handle faults if occurs, and log faults to fault-log if there is any => The timing is varied.

Hello,

The boot up time for the UCD chip from it being given 3.3V to configuration should be standard, does the datasheet have this information?

For our configuration Rail#1 does not have any dependencies, but we are seeing a variation between the two boards, 20ms vs 160ms power on time.

Hi,

Yes, that E2E related to the power on timing. Typical power on time is 20 ms and some times can be up to 200 ms.
