UCC28950: What happens if the slave frequency is set to less than 80% of the sync frequency?

Part Number: UCC28950

Tool/software:

Mike O' recommended slave frequency to be 80% of the sync frequency.

What happen if set the slave frequency to be 50% or 30% of the sync frequency?

For example, when the sync frequency is 400kHz and the slave frequency is 200kHz or 120kHz, the sync frequency is still greater than 1.8 times slave frequency as mentioned in the datasheet. Will there be any difference in operation?

  • Hello,

If the frequency you want to sync to is 400 kHz, you should set the slave frequency to 400kHz*0.8 = 320 kHz.

I think the data sheets is actually 90% but the way it is written is confusing.  The 80% recommendation that I made is O.K.

You could do 90%.  If you did 90% the frequency would 400 kHz*0.9 = 360 kHz.
