UCC28C45: RTCT PIN works abnormal

Part Number: UCC28C45

Tool/software:

HI Team

Customer is using UCC28C45 as the standby power which is flyback topology to power the Charger pile module. They found the RTCT PIN's waveform works abnormal when the charge pile system start to works. the waveforms are shown as following.

My questions are

  • can you provide some insights what I can check with customer next step for root cause?
  • do you ever see this kind of phenomenon.

In my opinion, RTCT internal is a constant current source to charge and discharge cap cycle.  if RTCT's value is constant, the frequency should be stable. RT=6.8KCT=1nF

1. When charger pile module turn off, and just UCC28C45 works. RTCT pin is normal.

2. When charger pile module turn on but without load,  and UCC28C45 works. RTCT pin's output.

3. When charger pile module turn on and applying 10A load(600V output voltage),  and UCC28C45 works. RTCT pin's output.

4. When charger pile module turn on and applying full load(600V output voltage,40KW),  and UCC28C45 works. RTCT pin's output.

  • Hi,

It looks the charge pile interfering the RTCT pin charging and discharging current to cause the RTCT pin mal function. You need to review your layout to eliminate this interfering effect to get RTCT waveform back to normal.
