BQ34Z100-R2: SOC goes to 0% after sitting idle following charge

Part Number: BQ34Z100-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

Tool/software:

Good morning,

I completed a learning cycle (saw update status / learning status = 0x6) for a 13-Cell 10AH Lithium Ion battery recently. I'm seeing a few issues.

1) The full discharge mAh hours is being tracked as roughly 12Ah, but charge Ah is roughly 10Ah.

2) I have cycled the charge discharge a few times after the learning cycle to see how the SOC tracked. The discharge seems to be reporting 0% SOC around 48V when the cell term voltage is set to 39V. I imagine this is because of the Ah difference being tracked between charge and discharge and the coulombs not adding up. Is that correct?

3) After fully charging the battery last night, about 12 hours later BQStudio was reporting a battery voltage of 53.3V but a SOC of 0%. It does go to 100% while charging. The charger also shuts off on completion. The Remaining capacity did show 0 mAh.

One issue with this first edition of the board is I don't have a great way to disconnect the rest of the system for the zero current calibration so that is probably skewed by 20-50 mA. Is that the core problem here, or are there other things to check? I could see this causing the difference between Ah on charge and discharge, but dropping the SOC to 0%

A few notes- I used the default chemistry ID. I did follow the document on completing a successful learning cycle, but it seems there are several fields that have changed for the R2 version of the device which are not included in the document. Is there a document which describes those field and calculation changes?

Thanks,

Kris
