Is there a specific reason why you want to use 300-Ω for this resistor? The fault pull-down current is 2-4mA. If 2mA is pulled through the 300-Ω resistor, there is only a 0.6V drop from the emitter to base of the PNP which could prevent the transistor from turning fully on. I probably wouldn't use anything less than 500-Ω or more, depending on the transistor selected and the operating conditions. A typical pull-up resistor is between 1k-Ω and 10k-Ω.
