LM337: Output Capacitance

Part Number: LM337

Tool/software:

Output capacitance is required for this part, and specifically, a tantalum or electrolytic is required. An alternative to a tantalum or aluminum electrolytic has been to use a ceramic capacitor with an additional 1 Ohm resister.

Recently, we found that using the 1 ohm and ceramic capacitor was insufficient to ensure stability across multiple LM337 parts.

Has the LM377 undergone any changes that would precipitate that change?  This circuit has been used successfully without incident in the past 10 years.

Also, can you specify a minimum and maximum ESR for the capacitor regardless of whether it is ceramic, tantalum, or Aluminum electrolytic assuming 10uF capacitance.
