Hi team,

My customers are evaluating the BQ25756 and BQ25856-Q1, and they have a question about the drive strength on the gate driver of both devices. In the datasheet they could not be able to find the drive strength of the gate drivers. Do you have any idea that the drive strength of all 4 gate drivers?

Hello Manu,

Thanks for working with this. The gate drive strength is under PWM Drivers in the datasheet. I've attached a screenshot of the datasheet below.

Thanks for the reply, I have noticed these parameters, but it didn't mention that the sink/source current capability of each gate driver in this table. These parameters are what customers are curious about. Do you have any insights on this?

Hello Manu,

Thanks for clarifying. The gate drive strength is listed as a resistance because the gate drive voltage can vary with an external gate drive supply.

You can use the following formula to calculate the gate drive current:

Gate Drive Current = Gate Drive Supply * Turn-on Resistance

The equation is the same for the turn-off resistance as well.

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, the current is Gate Drive Supply * Turn-on Resistance or Gate Drive Supply/Turn-on Resistance?

If it is Supply * Resistance, could you kindly explain why the equation is like this?
