USB-CTM-MINIDK-EVM: Issues with Power delivery, HDMI, and audio funcionality

Part Number: USB-CTM-MINIDK-EVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

We recently bought the USB-CTM-MINIDK-EVM with the intention of using it as a hub, in order to have video, audio and charging capabilities through a USB-C.

Upon receiving it, we followed the Quick-start guide found on the manual and noticed some discrepancies regarding the expected behavior.

All the tests described bellow where performed using a USB-C to USB-C cable from Ugreen (Previously tested for PD and data transfer capabilities)

First of all, we connected the MINIDK to a Laptop (via a USB-C Thunderbolt port known to be working) using the J28 connector. We instantly noticed that some LED's weren't lighting up as expected. The HDMI and DP ports were showing red LED's instead of green. Also, the PC didn't recogniced the device eventhough we installed the drivers shared by a TI employee in another post on this forum. These issues can be seen in the next image.

We tried connecting a monitor through the HDMI port and had no success. A similar story happened with the jack port for the audio, where, after connecting different headphones, we could only hear a high pitch tone, no matter if we were reproducing adio on the laptop or not.

Finally, we used the laptop's charger (a USB-C 20V charger) to power the board (through the J30 USB), and then try charging the laptop through the J28 port. This time, the blue LED indicating 20V lighted up, but the laptop didn't receive any charge. This issue can be seen in the next image:

After reading similar complaints from other users, we wonder if this could be a faulty unit or if we are missing something.

Thanks in advance for the help!
