BQ25173: Looking for similar ICs

Hello,

I am searching for chips to charge a super capacitor. We already have circuitry designed to provide input power. We do not need any power harvesting features. Ideally, the IC would be very simple (<16 pins).

So far I have looked in the Battery charger ICs category and found BQ25173 (and BQ25173-Q1). Is there anywhere else I should search to find similar components? Any recommendations for similar parts?

The supercapacitor is not yet chosen, we are very early in design. It will be at a voltage of either 5 or 12V. In our current revision, the max power we can draw to power the cap charger and the rest of our circuit is about 3.5W at 5V.

Hello

The BQ25173 (173-Q1) will support 5V capacitor bank. But max output voltage is 10V and it will not support 12V output.

BQ25173 is a linear regulator that is small and easy to implement.

For higher power a switching converter may work better. Larger solution size and possible EMI.

Also would need to know charge time, does the backup capacitor need to be charged quickly.
