BQ77216: About how to do with un-used TS pin ?

Part Number: BQ77216

Tool/software:

Dear TI engineer:

We used BQ77216 ,  the  TS pin we do not used and keep not connect this pin.

( In specification Ver2022  , if not used TS pin shoud connect 10K resistor to Vss).

( in specification Ver2023 , if not used TS pin recommend to NC)
So we want to know the reason why TI give different recommends .
and Now we use NC mode. What's the potential risk?
best regards
  • Hello Qin Rui,

I think you meant in the 2023 version, if not used, the TS pin should be connected to a 10k resistor to VSS.

The datasheet was updated to account for the TS pin encountering unexpected noise due to the PCB/environment around it and triggering overtemperature (OT) when left floating. If the TS pin is not used, having a 10k or even a 100k resistor would help keep OT from triggering.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
