BQ25710: [For compliance test] charge/discharge current sense resistor shorted

Hi Team,

Could you please advise what's the behavior of BQ25710 when charge/discharge current sense resistor is shorted?

I guessed charge current will increase over register setting, might be over 10A until reaching input current limit or VBUS UVLO, correct?

Customer is working on compliance test, which requests even charge/discharge current sense resistor shorted, charge current is needed to limit at less than battery max charging current.

Do you have any design suggestion for this scenario?

Hi, Terry,

You are right. The other protection needs to kick in if the current sense is shorted. I would suggest utilizing the AC side current sense RAC to limit the total power available to charger.
