TPS552892: Ceramic capacitors

Part Number: TPS552892

Tool/software:

I am trying to use TPS552892 under the following conditions:

Vin: 9.6V - 28.8V
Vout: 12V
Cin: 33uF x3(hybrid capacitor), and 0.1uF (ceramic capacitor)
Cout: 27uF x5(hybrid capacitor), and 0.1uF (ceramic capacitor)
L: 4.7uH
Fsw: 400kHz
Rsns: 10mΩ

[Q1]
We are reducing the number of ceramic capacitors to prevent abnormal noise.
Do you have any concerns?

[Q2]
Overcurrent threshold is set to 5A.
However, OCP was activated at 4.7A in boost mode. (Back mode is normal)
Is there any way to improve this? Is this due to a lack of ceramic capacitors?

  • Hi Miyano,

Thanks for reaching out. Please see my replies below.

Q1: The combination is ok, but the current ripple through hybrid capacitors will be a bit larger. And recommend to add one more small package ceramic capacitor.

Q2: Please check if the current limit of power supply was triggered. Can you share the sch and layout with us for review?

    BRs,

    Bryce
