BQ25180: Help! Wrong part chosen

Part Number: BQ25180
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA219, , BQ25190, TPS63900, BQ25629, BQ25628

Tool/software:

looking for some help in part selections.

I was hoping to find a suitable IC that offers the following characteristics and features.

USB input

suitable for charging a  single 4.2v battery

i2c capable

1A peak charging

temp control isn’t a concern

low iq- but doesn’t really matter as it should only be active with vIN.

**monitoring charging voltage and charge current.**

ideally more than 6v input support

if it has an inbuilt buck converter, ideally more than 800ma

I didn’t read the datasheet close enough and selected a BQ25180, which doesn’t actually measure the charging current or voltage, and would prefer to use a single IC that does this rather than trying to integrate an extra component like a INA219 or similar. The 25180 from what I can tell only shows what is configured. Though it does show alerts for over charge, which is odd as I would think that implies it can detect voltage??

don’t get me wrong the 25180 does what it specifies, however I was hoping to the charge data out of it via i2c.

I’m using a MAX17048 for the gauge but haven’t been happy with that functionality either.
package format isn’t really a concern however something that would work on a two layer board would be preferable.

is there such an IC from TI that can accomplish the above - help!
