LP2996A: VDDQ = 5V operation

Part Number: LP2996A

Tool/software:

Any issues with operating the LP2996A with AV_IN = PV_IN = V_DDQ =5V?

I believe this should set the output V_TT = 2.5V.

Looking to use this as a virtual ground/common mode voltage in a 5V op-amp signal chain.

As far as I can tell from the datasheet, the voltages should be no problem and the output current here will be pretty low.

What is the loop bandwidth of the output regulator?

Thanks!

-Steve

  • Our engineer for this thread is currently out of the office for the US Thanksgiving holiday. Responses will be delayed to week of December 1. Thank you for your patience.

  • Team-

Can you please provide an update here?  thanks!

  • Hi Steve,

Sorry for the late response. The engineer covering this device has been out this week as well. Going over the datasheet quickly i see no concern over a VDDQ 5 V other than the maximum voltage rating is 6 V which may be a bit too close. Other than the voltage rating of the pin itself I see no listed maximum voltage from an application standpoint. Only the minimum of 1.35 V.

In terms of the bandwidth question, the other engineer will look into this next week once he is back.

    Sam G.

  • Hi Antenna,

The loop bandwidth isn't recorded for this device in our documentation. You could get an EVM and test the loop response possibly but I usually see this done with regards to a buck rather than a termination regulator / LDO.
