BQ79731-Q1: BQ79718V-Q1: Assistance with I2C Communication Issue on BQ79718-Q1 and Evaluation on BQ79718EVM

Part Number: BQ79731-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79718-Q1, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

I am encountering issues with the initialization of the BQ79718-Q1 chip concerning I2C communication with my EEPROM module. I am using the USB2ANY PCB via the BQ79600 bridge to communicate with the BQ79718 through the "BQ797xx GUI" from TI. After enabling I2C (I2C_EN) and starting the process, the chip enters shutdown mode when I attempt to send data.

To verify this issue, I wanted to test it on the BQ79718EVM. I populated the EEPROM as specified in the schematics and configured GPIO0 and GPIO1 as SDA and SCL by setting/removing R61-R64 accordingly. However, after these changes, I am no longer able to access the board. Additionally, I noticed that SDA and SCL in the design do not have pull-up resistors.

Am I overlooking something? Could you advise on how to test I2C communication on the EVM?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,
Janek Bucella
