Li on baterry charger control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24172, BQ24610

2438.Untitled 1.pptAll,

We do power supply back up. Input from wall adaptor 110Vac, in normal operation it can charge 1 cel Li-on battery and also supply to load(DC-D module), but in case if I lost 110Vac we let battery as source to supply power to load. What is simplest way to do swich if I lost 110Vac and have bettery as power source instead. Do TI have solution to support this.

  • A lot of charger ICs have a power path selector function. Such as: bq24610, bq24172.... It can automatically select an input source (either from 110V adaptor or battery) for the system load.

I recommand a 2- or 3-cell Li-ion battery in series becasue the load is about 36W=12Vx3A (12A for a 3V battery). The load current is too high with a single cell battery. If using two cell battery, the discharge current is reduced to half.
