BQ79616-Q1: MULTIPLE GROUND IN STACK

Part Number: BQ79616-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I am using BQ79616 in our new project, which have multiple stacked BQ79616 devices. I went through the "BQ7961x-Q1 Design Recommendations for High Voltage Automotive BMS" document and found multiple grounds in the base device. I have marked this and attached the snippet. It might be a misunderstanding on my part, but could anyone please verify this and help in this regard?

Thanks in Advance

Regards,

Vishnu V

  • Hi Vishnu,

The BQ79616 can both operate as a base or as a stack. Each stacked board in this diagram can have their own individual grounds. However, each board should have the same ground. For more information, please refer to the BQ79616 user guide on our chip schematic and layout.

    Best Regards,

    John

  • Hi John,

Which means the grounds shown in the diagram must be by mistake right? I have attached the diagram for reference. All pins which are meant to be grounded should be connected to each ICs respective ground, right?

    Regards,

    Vishnu
