BQ76952: Issues with backdriving REG1 LDO

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

we have a microelectronic system which draws power from the REG1 configured to supply 3.3V when the battery pack is connected.

However, when the battery pack is not connected, we will supply 3.3V from a separate tag-connect connector to allow us to reprogram our microcontroller. The question we have is "is it OK to back drive the REG1 pin with 3.3V if the BMS IC is turned off"

Our initial feeling is no and that we should use either a Schottky diode or an ideal diode to prevent reverse current flow. However both of these solutions have drawbacks (Schottky causes voltage drops from 3.3V to ~2.9V, or ideal diode increased cost). Could you advise as to whether we need to employ some power ORing technique?

Thanks
