TPS92200: Enquiry about the analogue dimming range of the TPS92200D2

Part Number: TPS92200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54200, ,

Tool/software:

Hi, TI expert

The customer was previously using the TPS54200, but due to specification changes, they are considering the TPS92200D2.

[Required spec]

- Dimming type : Supports analogue dimming
- Feedback Voltage : max 200mV
- PWM PIN-Threshold @ Rising : Under 1.8V (TYP)
- Package : SOT-23-6

After checking, it appears that the TPS92200D2 supports analogue dimming by accepting a digital PWM input.

However, the dimming range of the TPS92200D2 does not seem to be specified in the datasheet.

Can you confirm if it is okay to accept 1.8V PWM signal for dimming?

Please check. Thank you.

  • Hi Grady,

Thanks for reaching out! Glad to help you switch your new design from TPS54200 to TPS92200.

For TPS92200D2, please refer to VDIM_H/VDIM_L. It can support PWM as low as 1.2V.

Could you please share your end equipment application please?

    Thank you!

    Best,

    John.

  • Hi, John

    Thans for response.

    - End Equipment application :  IP CAMERA ((4-way) Multi-Directional CAMEARA)

For TPS92200D1, it is listed as 0.65V~1.2V, but for TPS92200D2, VDM_H is only 0.65V(min), so I asked.

If so, can I understand that TPS92200D2 can receive 1.8V PWM signal for dimming?

Also, if I purchase TPS92200D2EVM, I can review it with PWM signal input (1.8V) during test, right?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Grady,

TPS92200 is widely used in IP cameras to drive IR LED. Multi-directional cameras usually will have several TPS92200 realizing individual control of each IR LED.

Yes, TPS92200D2 can support 1.8V PWM. And you can also test it on EVM.

    Thanks!

    Best,

    John.
