TPS92692-Q1: Design Calculator

Part Number: TPS92692-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team,

I was exploring TPS92692-Q1 for LED driving application.

I need to use SEPIC topology for driving the LEDs but I am unable to find Design calculator for SEPIC topology for choosing the components specifications - Available calculators are for Boost & Boost to Battery topology.

Can someone could help me to provide the required excel based design Calculator of TPS92692-Q1 for SEPIC topology.

Appreciate your support here !!

  • Hi Shersingh,

The Buck-Boost design calculator will closely resemble that of a SEPIC. We do not currently have one for a SEPIC converter, but I will make one for you next week. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in the meantime.

    Best,
    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your understanding and support!!

Please share once it's ready at your end - It would be really helpful.

    BR,

    Shersingh

  • I absolutely will!

  • Hi Shersingh,

    Sorry for the wait!

Here is s preliminary design tool that will aid you in calculating component values. Keep in mind, this is a preliminary calculator and has not yet been thoroughly evaluating, so please verify the values by hand.

    Hope this helps!

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Thanks a lot for your support for making the design calculator for SEPIC.

What's your plan of its evaluation, are you expecting any modification during evaluation phase? - I am bit worried over it considering me as a newbie while using TPS92692-Q1.

  • Hi Shersingh,

It will likely be quite some time before it is officially released. The only modification I can see is adding efficiency to the calculator, but that will likely take some months. I will have my manager review it ASAP, but I am fairly confident it will select appropriate values for components for you. Keep in mind, the inductor selection section of the calculator assumes you are using the same values for both  inductors, so those are the recommended values for EACH inductor.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Also, layout for power converters is extremely important and I would suggest thoroughly learning about it before you get started

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the information- I will start using it.

But can you please let me know the feedback if any after getting it reviewed by your manager so if there are any changes required, I can incorporate the same.

Efficiency of the Device shall be available as the device is already in the field from long time- So why it going to take months?

    Shersingh

  • Shersingh,

I would like to refer you to our data sheet for our part and for our EVM, both have efficiency data. Also, you are more than welcome to order an EVM to test it for yourself as this will give you the most accurate results.

I will get back to you when we are ready, if you verify the values then you are validating my work as well. Efficiency is complex and requires comparison with lab data. Good luck with your design.

    Best,
    Daniel
