BQ24617: BQ24617RGER

Part Number: BQ24617

Tool/software:

Hi. I have a question about BQ24617RGER charger. We will plane to use it with 1S battery and with Power Path and I can`t understand how transistor  Q3 (between VSYS and VBAT) will open in case when adapter is disconnected  and battery is 1S. Is it will work with 1S?

  • Hello Alex,

will open in case when adapter is disconnected  and battery is 1S. Is it will work with 1S?

Yes, This will work with 1S.

We will plane to use it with 1S battery and with Power Path and I can`t understand how transistor  Q3 (between VSYS and VBAT) will open in case when adapter is disconnected

When the adapter is not detected, ACDRV is pulled to VCC to keep ACFET off, disconnecting the adapter from system. BATDRV stays at ACN-6V to connect the battery to the system.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.

BATDRV stays at ACN-6V to connect the battery to the system.

Hi. Thank you. But how it possible? When adapter is unconnected BQ24617RGER should power from battery but VCC pin should be more 5V and battery voltage will be from 3 to 4.2V. How BATDRV stays at ACN-6V on this case? How  BQ24617RGER will powering on this case?

  • Hello Alex,

Please refer to section 9.3.6 Power up in the datasheet:

If VCC is below the UVLO threshold, the device is disabled, ACFET turns off and BATFET turns on.

    Best Regards,

    Christian
