BQ78Z100: BQ78Z100 Sleep Mode and Current Draw

Part Number: BQ78Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ25792,

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

Having some issues with my BQ78Z100 chip entering sleep mode. When the system is powered via supply (via BQ25792 chip) and the BQ78Z100 is connected (atop a battery pack), the battery draw goes to 0. When in this state, I'm able to command the fuel gauge into sleep mode. It's apparent by the BQStudio's lack of communication, and it eventually shows zzz's next to the chip logo.

Furthermore, the gauge will remain in sleep mode once the power supply is removed so long as the current remains low (625mA approximately, confirmed via hand-held DMM). Having my sleep current setting to 1000mA and wake comparator at [0,0], I'm able to wake the gauge by having the system draw more current. Setting it to 1500mA and [1,1] results in the inability to wake since the system current draw is far and away from the wake settings.

My issue is that when the system is powered by a battery and the fuel gauge is awake, I'm expecting that by reducing the system current to below the sleep current threshold the gauge should fall asleep but it does not. Can you reply and add me so I can share the BQ78Z100 data flash memory for review to see if it's set up to accomplish this functionality?
