BQ76952: CHARGE WAKE UP OF AFE USING CHARGER IS NOT WORKING IN SOFT START OF THE CHARGER CONNECTION

Dear Team,

We are using BQ76952 in our design for 16S configuration.

From the reference manual it is known that to make the AFE to come out of deep sleep one of the options is to connect charger on the PACK+ side which is the load side.

The AFE is out of deep sleep when we connect the charger in Hard start, i.e., when there is Voltage at the charger terminal and charger is already turned on.

The AFE is still in deep sleep when we connect the charger and then turn on the charger, i.e., soft start of the charger.

Is this normal or else any issue with the design?

    Hello Saivedavyas,

    From the schematic image you have shared, it looks fine. Are you reading the 0x00 Control Status() to determine if the device is still in DEEPSLEEP mode?

    The device will exit DEEPSLEEP mode if a charger is attached if the voltage detected on the LD pin is greater than the VWAKEONLD voltage. The VWAKEONLD voltage is given in Section 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions in the BQ76952 Datasheet.

    Can you share a waveform of the voltage seen at the LD pin when you connect the charger and turn on the charger, i.e. soft start of the charger?
