LM10010EVM: SNVC035 — LM10010 GUI is not communicating to the FTD mini module

Part Number: LM10010EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM10010,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I want to evaluate the LM10010EVM but encountered an issue when using the GUI. Following the setup instructions I downloaded both the LM10010_GUI and CDM20600 executable application. In the GUI I also made sure to update the DLL path to the NSC folder which contains the ftdi_vid_library.dll file.

For the setup, I have the EVM powered at 5V from a lab bench power supply. When powered on the EVM defaults to 1V just fine. I Think my GUI is not communicating to the FTD mini module.

However I am getting this error " Call Library Function Node in host_adapter_close.vi->VID Panel30.vi" Attached is a snippet of the GUI and error.

Looking for the solution .Thanks

  • Hello,

This could be tricky to debug as the original software was written by another company that we acquired these devices from. We have found that much of our older software is not supported in Windows 10/11 and we are currently working through either refreshing or removing this software from ti.com. I also run into the same error, but I don't have the EVM available with me to test plugging it in.

Did you install in the default location, or another location? I tried installing the GUI, and it actually defaulted to program files (x86), so make sure

Can you try installing with admin privileges?

Were you able to install the FTDI drivers per this portion of the readme:

  • Hi Katlynne,

Thanks for getting back to me. I installed in the default location and when I tried installing the GUI, and it actually defaulted to program files (x86) same as yours. I also tried to install the FTDI as per Readme and when I clicked CDM20600.exe, it popped in some command window saying "installing driver.... " And vanished Disappointed

  • Hello,

Perhaps that exe is not compatible with newer versions of windows. These are the newest set of drivers from FTDI: ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/CDM212364_Setup.zip

I do already have these installed on my computer, but like I said I do not have the FT2232 mini module to test with right now, so that could be why I am getting the error.

There is also the chance that even the new version of the drivers are not compatible with whatever the GUI is looking for that causes the error.

I'll order the EVM and see if I can get the software to work.

  • Hi Katlynne ,

I ran that version of the driver also. but nothing improved . I am guessing this FTD driver is not also compatible with GUI (snvc035) mentioned in the TI. I have one more question. I am supposed to verify that correct COM ports has been defined in the GUI. but there is no any option where I can define the ports. Thank you so much . Looking forward to see your feedback.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Someone on my team had this EVM so I was able to test the GUI with the mini module.

I opened device manager and in the USB serial bus section there were two entries with a warning symbol. I right clicked and selected update drivers and selected search the web. The warning symbol went away after that. I'm not sure if this was part of the solution for me, but it was one of the steps I took.

It looks like the driver version that I installed was the new version I shared in my last response from the FTDI website.

Then, I opened the GUI and pointed the DLL path to the program files (0x86) path. I selected output dynamic voltage and got the same error. This error stops the GUI. I restarted the GUI using the arrow at the top left, and selected output dynamic voltage again.

The error still shows in the error window, but this is just because the error window didn't refresh. The GUI does not exit, and you can see the number in the Vout Plot window is updating. I then checked the VID A, B, C, and S pins on the mini module and was able to see them toggling. I'm not sure why running the GUI twice worked, but again it was part of the process I took so I wanted to share with you.

  • HI Katlynne,

Thanks a lot for the solution. Its working for me now . I also Updated the Driver before but did not help. I think using CDM212364 driver and pointing DLL path to the program files (0x86)\NSC\LM10010 was the main key factor to solve the issue. though the error still shows in the error window but Its ok as my Vout Plot window is updating along with the Code Plot  Slight smile

    Thanks

  • Awesome, great to hear!
