BQ40Z50-R2: Short Circuit in Discharge Protection

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Tool/software:

When we configure the ASCD register, the threshold value for the current is a function of the Rsense shunt resistor

I want to be sure that my understanding is good.

If I have a 1mohm resistor, the maximum trip value is 7A?

Threshold[2:0]/RSENSE = 0b111 = 7mV / 0.001 = 7A

If a put to 1 RSNS bit get I get 14A ?

Thanks

  • Hi Pascal,

The Threshold[2:0] equates to the table seen below:

Based on whether the [RSNS] bit is set to 0 or 1, having 0x07 as the threshold would make the calculation -200mV or -100mV divided by the sense resistor value.

    Regards,
