UCC256402: HV Startup From HV DC Source with Pullup Resistor:

Part Number: UCC256402

Tool/software:

Hello All,

I have spent the last few weeks designing a PCB for a 480V-12V Isolated Resonant Half-Bridge-LLC DC-DC converter, rated for 240W.

I have selected the UCC256402ADDBT Resonant Controller for this task, as this integrated circuit has the X-Capacitor discharge feature disabled; this is because the converter is for the powertain of an electric vehicle, being supplied by a HV Li-ion battery with no mains input.

As shown below (in both PJEG and PDF form), I have used 5 individual 1210 1kΩ resistors (R18-R22) to connect the HV startup pin of the UCC256402 to the HV terminal of the input supply (at 470V). Will the HV startup function correctly using a DC supply (instead of a line input), or is there a mistake in this design?

Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,

Kishan Maharaj
