Hi, I am having a problem. I followed this guide to complete a learning cycle: How to Complete a Successful Learning Cycle for the bq34z100 in the link: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/196/6254.How-to-Complete-a-Successful-Learning-Cycle-for-the-BQ34z100.pdf

My problem is that I configured every register that the guide says to configure and followed all the steps. However, after completing all of it, my SOC and SOH are not updating correctly. I am unable to complete a successful learning cycle.

I am using the chemical ID 0803, and I have two 12V, 26Ah lead-acid batteries connected in series. I am using this configuration to perform the learning cycle. I would like to know the correct register values to input into my gauge in order to complete the learning cycle successfully.

I have two batteries like that (12V, 26Ah, Unipower) connected together in series, giving a total of 24V.

Hi,

How was chemid 0803 decided?

Did you use the GPCchem tool to get a chemid match?

Can you share the input data and the report?

Hi Diego,

I'm glad that you responded. I used the online tool. I don't have access to the report files, but we found the closest match with the 0803 chemical ID.

Hi,

It is important that the DOD% error is 3% or less, or it will be very hard if not impossible to complete a learning cycle. if the dod % error was greater than 3% a custom chemid will need to be made for your cells.

Everthing is great (DOD as well). The VOK flag is never set, i think that is the problem. How can i solve this? Because even charging or in 0% VOK is always cleared.

Hi,

This is usually due to the cells not fully relaxing, larger or more cells will take longer to relax.

How long are you giving your cells to relax?

10 hours. But for some reason, after another discharge cycle, the flag (VOK) was operating well. However, now I have another problem: the "Learned Status" remains at 0x04 and never updates, even though the flags seem to be working well (at least, they appear to be functioning properly). Hi Anon,

Your battery voltage does not appear correct. It decreases during rest and does not follow the general shape of the graphs in this document.

Do you think it's because of that? My registers are a bit strange too. For example, the charge current is way off (it's 13,000 mAh and must be like 3000mAh). Here is the image showing it:

Hi,

Yes, this will cause issues.

Current, voltage and temperature need to be reported correctly by the gauge. Please calibrate if they are wrong.

Another thing: The documentation does not specify whether I need to change the parameters of 'Cell BL Set Volt Threshold' and 'Cell BH Set Volt Threshold.' Do I need to configure these for the learning cycle?

Hi, I have fixed all these problems. However, the flag is still not changing (Learned Status stays at 4 and never changes to 5).

Hi,

According to the GPCchem report provided, ChemID 813 is the closest match, it was previously said they are using 803, this will need to be changed to complete the learning cycle.

Equally concerning is the log file they provided of the learning cycle. The voltage reading drops significantly once charging is complete. Why is this? This will lead to an unsuccessful learning cycle.
