UCC14341-Q1: UVLO behavior

Part Number: UCC14341-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

Can you help explain the behavior of the UVLO error in the following case?

What happens when the UCC14341-Q1: Vin falls below VVIN_UVLOP_FALL_341 but does not go down to VVIN_UVLOP_FALL_341B where the reset is triggered, but Vin goes up again above VVIN_UVLOP_RISE_341.

Will the device start operating again or will the UVLO error remain latched?

BR Simon

  • Simon,

What happens when the UCC14341-Q1: Vin falls below VVIN_UVLOP_FALL_341 but does not go down to VVIN_UVLOP_FALL_341B where the reset is triggered, but Vin goes up again above VVIN_UVLOP_RISE_341.

    • The "B" vs "non-B" are two different ICs with different UVLO options but the VIN reset threshold is the same for both versions. Assuming EN remains HIGH, When VVIN falls below 12.6V for UCC14341 or 8.5V for UCC14341B, switching stops then recovers when VIN returns above VVIN_UVLOP_RISE_341. Since VIN below UVLO is a non-latching fault and the the recovery is automatic, the reset threshold for this type of fault has no relevance, regardless how low VIN falls below UVLO. Conversely, latching faults must be reset by EN toggle or VIN toggle, where VIN must cross the reset thresholds circled in red below before switching can resume.
