BQ25798: BQ25798

Part Number: BQ25798

Tool/software:

I had a similar Problem, The REGN does not generate the 5V. When the PMIC is implemented as single input.

in other project, i implemented successfully  a dual input charger following the specification of  " BQ25798, Application Diagram with Two Input Sources and Ship FET".

Now i tried to use the same PMIC for a simple 4S charger.. But it is not working. also:

  • Could you please  point me out to a "VBUS input Only" reference design.
  • Is threre a better or moer suitable PMIC for charging 4-cell , with discharge current up to 3A..

  • HI Giovanny,

The design above is correct for single VBUS with no input MUX.  REGN comes up automatically if VBUS is valid (not overvoltage and passes poor source).  BQ25798 is good for 4 cell, 3A discharge design if you add TVS zener diode to protect 20 V BAT, BATP and SYS pins from hotplug of fully charged battery pack.  The EVM gives guidance on that. The PROG pin resistor must be sized for 4S pack.
