Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61088
Tool/software:
Hi Teams,
I was wondering why I cannot type VIN=4.7V ,VOUT=5V ,IOUT=3A for TPS61178 in the webench?
It seems that those are all under specification. Thanks for the help!

Liang Tsai

Hi Tsai,
I guess the webench uses default 2Mhz frequency to calculate.
The close of input and output triggers on time limitation.
The device is capable of such condition.
Could you tell me why TPS61178 is selected?
It seems over spec for this application, and I can recommend another device to you.
Best Regards,
Fergus
Hi Fergus,
Thanks for the reply, I saw on the data sheet that it can go up to 2.2MHz for the switching frequency. I was wondering even though it is a overkill solution, it should work properly right?
Customer is also considering using TPS61088, is this a good choice?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Tsai,
As we talked. both TPS61178 and TPS61088 cannot work with 2.2Mhz when Vin=4.7 and Vout=5V, this triggers its minimum on time limit.

Fergus
