TPS65950 MMC1 LCO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3703, TPS65950

I have a board that uses the am3703 and TPS65950. We followed reference design of the beagleboard and mistral board and with those boards the TPS65950 enables the MMC1 LDO to boot from the SD card. On my board the MMC1 LDO isn’t turned on, are the TPS chips on the eval boards flashed with some code that enables the MMC1 automatically?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hi,

    As a follow up question:

    Short term issue:

Parts (TPS65950) as we have received them have MMC1 LDO output disabled. As we designed the system we have not provided a JTAG connection to it. Is there an alternative method to enable MMC1 LDO output besides the direct control from MP?

    Long term issue:

Can the standard part be shipped to us with MMC1 LDO output enabled as default? If yes, can we send parts back to update the issue?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi,

I do not think you are implementing the boot mode correctly. VMMC1 is powered ON by the processor ROM code. The processor detects the correct boot settings and starts VMMC1 in ROM code if you have the correct boot mode for SD/MMC.

    Is your boot setting correct?

Did you measure the output of VMMC1?

I do not think you need a new EEPROM setting. EEPROM is fixed and cannot be modified. You will have to implement same boot mode as done on Beagle or Mistral.
