BQ25628: Enquiry on BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS

Part Number: BQ25628

Tool/software:

Hi BU,

Good day!

My customer would like to clarify BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS setting in BQ25628. Could you help to further explain the red box portion? Thanks for the help!

Regards,

John

  • Hello John,

Do you have a specific question regarding this bit? The bit's behavior is explained in a couple places within the datasheet, the most thorough section is: 8.3.9 BATFET Control

But there are other sections which explain the bit's impact in other areas of operation as well.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

    Thanks for the response.

I think customer would like to know when assigning 0h for BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS, does this mean allowing BATFET off / system power reset with adapter present?

Customer would like to know what will happen if we assign BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS to either 0h or 1h.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    John

  • Can you help to simplify for me for this section? Thanks.

  • Hi John,

    Please see my explanation below.

As shown in table 8-6 in datasheet section 8.3.9 the BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS bit setting has an impact on IC operation as it pertains to ship mode and system reset functions.

With BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS = 0h and an input adapter connected.

    • device will enter ship mode after adapter is removed when BATFET_CTRL = 10. BATFET is not forced off until after adapter is removed.
    • System reset function is ignored/disabled as long as input adapter remains connected.

With BATFET_CTRL_WVBUS = 1h and an input adapter connected.

    • Writing BATFET_CTRL = 10 will force off the BATFET. Then when adapter is removed the device enters ship mode.
    • System reset function is allowed, even with adapter present.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett

  • Hi Garrett,

    Thanks for the clear explanation!

    Regards,
