BQ76952: Questions about LD pin and PACK pin

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

To whom it may concern,

From what I understand, to wake up the BQ from SHUTDOWN mode, there are two ways, one is to pull down TS2, the other is LD pin detects voltage above VwakeonLD voltage (around 1.45V). Since we don't want BQ to be waken up through LD pin, we plan to connect LD pin to VSS (I understand to do this, the LOAD DETECT feature is lost). Please confirm if it is correct.

Also, I would like to confirm that the BQ won't be waken up from SHUTDOWN mode if PACK pin detects the voltage. Right now, we connect PACK pin of BQ to PACK+ terminal through 10kohm resistor, and we DON'T want the BQ to be waken up from SHUTDOWN mode when we apply charger voltage on PACK+. Please help to confirm.

Many thanks.

Regards,

Eric

  • Hello Eric,

    1. Yes, if you don’t want to use the LD pin, you may connect it to VSS. Table 16-3. Terminating Unused Pins in the BQ76952 Datasheet mentions this amongst other recommendations for pins that are not being used.

    2. The device shouldn’t wake up from the charger being connected if LD is not being used.

This Shutdown Mode FAQ should also be useful to refer too.

    Best Regards,
