UCC28070: UCC28070 & UCC28070A ( spice model)

Part Number: UCC28070

Tool/software:

Hi,

Sir, We are using UCC28070 in Battery Charger for PFC. Looking for unencrypted spice model to start the the simulation

Can you please help me out to get unencrypted file to quick start our project.

We are looking forward your quick response.

Thanks & regards

  • Yadav,

We generally don't share unencrypted models. Can you please elaborate what exactly you need to do with the model?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Actually,we will simulate and analyse the transient response, that why we need unencrypted spice model. So if I will get the unencrypted file that will be great

    Thanks

  • Please contact your local FAE Jinesh so we can have a communication channel for file sharing.

    Thanks

  • Can you please provide the mail id of Mr. Jinesh.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ning Tan

Thanks, I have received the transient model from Jinesh.

Now I want to know about three Pins IRIPA,IRIPB,F_KHZ. How to use these pins because these pins are not mentioned in IC.

And CDR, RDM , GND pins are not provided in spice model. How these pins will effect the simulation. How to use GND for simulation.

    Thanks

    Ritesh

  • Hello Ritesh,

After providing the model, Ning had asked me to support this thread going forward.

The model pins IRIPA, IRIPB, F_KHZ do not exist in the actual UCC28070 controller.
They were added to the model by the model maker for some purpose which I presume is to provide insight into an internal function that is normally inaccessible to the user.

I do not know what these extra pins are for, but I can make some guesses.  I think that IRIPA & B stand for "I_ripple_A" and "I_ripple_B" and may be monitor points for the current synthesizer outputs (which are not visible externally).  I don't think that they are used to control anything because the ripple current is established externally by the inductor value.
But it can be useful to monitor the synthesizer outputs to view the effects of varying RSYN value.

I guess that F_KHZ stands for "Frequency_in_kHz", although I'm not sure what F_KHZ can be monitoring or affecting.  Switching frequency can be programmed by RT value.  I don't see the point in monitoring the oscillator frequency internally, because the GDA and GDB will demonstrate the frequency.
I don't know if it is an input or an output.  I suggest to leave it unconnected, or probe it for a waveform to see if the signal correlates to something frequency related.

CDR and RDM are used to program dithering.  Since the model doesn't have these pins, I believe that the model maker chose not to model this function to simplify the model design and speed up simulation time.
The GND pin of a spice model is often left off, because the device model sub-circuits are internally referenced to the simulator GND.
The GND is already there and does not need an explicit pin to connect it.

    Regards,
    Ulrich
