TPSM828303: webench steady state simulation issues with TPSM828303

Part Number: TPSM828303

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm attempting to run a Webench Steady State simulation of the TPSM828303, configured for 4.5V - 5.5V input, 1.0V output @ 0.541A load in auto mode.  The webench Vout waveform looks like the device can't regulate.  The output is shown here:

I've increased the simulation load current to 1A, I get an expected output.  The results of a startup or load transient simulation also look as expected.  Changing from auto to forced PWM mode at 0.541A also gives expected output.  Is there something wrong with the simulation, or can this DC/DC not operate in auto mode at 1.0V Vout at .541A load current?

Thank you!

  • Hello Matthew,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

I checked Webench steady state simulation with the mentioned parameters and default BOM cannot reproduce the observed output.

Did you select special BOM components? Please let me know.

For extreme component values it can happen that the "steady state" has hot settled in the simulation, before data output is starting. Your screenshot might still show the settling process. This is a simulation phenomenon and cannot be expected for the real IC behavior.

Startup simulations usually don't have the settling, as they start from 0V. So, as a workaround you can use the startup simulation results (zoom in at the steady state at the end of the plot) to evaluate Vout ripple, etc.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
