TLV760: TLV76050 start up waveform and Input revers current when Vin turn off

Part Number: TLV760
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV709,

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer compares TLV76050 with a competitor. but test some waveforms as below.

Could you help explain why Vo has some soft start here? Is normal? and some reverse current when Vin turn off.

Vin is yellow (TLV76005)

Vo is greet  (TLV76005)

  • Hi Jimmy,

Can the customer provide higher resolution oscilloscope captures? It's difficult to see some of the smaller details in the images provided. It would be particularly helpful to be able to see the voltage and time scales.

The difference in behavior between the TLV76050 and competitor part may be due to differences in the customer design between the two circuits. From the images provided, it appears that the TLV76050 circuit may be getting biased up by another supply in the customer design, given the spike in voltage on its output before an input is applied.

I'd recommend swapping the TLV76050 and competitor part and trying the test again. This would help confirm whether the behavior the customer is seeing is being caused by the devices themselves, or something else in the design.

    Regards,

    Alex Davis

  • Hi team,

Customer uses same board and use different LDO to do test.

Customer wants to know why TLV76050's Vo has a similar soft-start behavior.

And why revers current when VI turn off

  • Hi Jimmy,

Both the startup behavior and reverse current leakage are expected behavior on the TLV760. If the customer is able to accommodate a different footprint in their design, a newer device such as the TLV709 will offer better performance than the TLV760.

  • Hi Alex,

Could you provide advantage list for TLV709? thanks

  • Hi Jimmy,

The TLV709 offers lower ground pin current, improved output accuracy, improved line and load regulation, increased output current, and lower dropout voltage when compared to the TLV760

    Best Regards,
