It is possible to remove the discharge FET, however we do not recommend this since the gauge would only be able to block current going to the cell, and nothing going outward.

Regarding the protections, they can be enabled and disabled using the Enabled Protections registers.

Okay, got it, we require such logic itself, we do not want anything to be controlled in the DSG path. So, it is a better to do it removing the discharge FET's or remove the protections and everything related to it in BQStudio.

If all discharging protections are disabled, the only time the DSG FET would open and close would be based on whether a discharging current is being seen.

What you meant is that based on the current drawn there would be control of the DSG MOSFET. Is this the correct understanding ?
If so, I do not want to control the DSG path, once the MOSFET is enabled by the bq there must not be any control to the DSG, it must be a free flow. How can I achieve this ?

If FET_EN is enabled, and the current being read across the sense resistor is less than the DSG Current Threshold, the gauge will close the DSG FET. If the current is greater than this value, the DSG FET will be opened.
