LM51772EVM-HP: I2C control of current limit

Part Number: LM51772EVM-HP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Tool/software:

I currently studied the LM51772EVM and want to apply on our design products.

The board is OK connect to I2C and change the setting with USB2ANY on GUI interface,

however, this is no effect of the current limit, I set the I_LIM Threshold to 5mv which should cap the current to 500ma,

the ISNSR - ISNSN is more that 5mv is 0.013mv.... when I try to short the output, the status out put of CC_OPERATION already "NOT REACHED"

How about to make the I2C current limit work (I_SET), I am set the JP10 to OPEN (not connect)

Best Regards,

Thanks

  • Hi SC Lee,

there are two options for Current limit:

    - ISET : Limit set by Sense Resistor and Resistor on ILIM

    - IDAC: Limit set by Sense Resistor and I2C I_LIM Threshold.

If you would like to set the current limit via I2C you need to use the IDAC configuration. Beside the right configuration a Capacitor is required at ILIM pin - so remove JP10.

In the register interface ensure that IMON Limiter is Enabled and I_SET and Neg. CL Limit is disabled.

    Best regards,

     Stefan
