TPS63070: Max output current

Hi,

Could you please let me know the maximum output current of TPS63070?

The maximum output current is 2A in buck and boost in datasheet. And Figure 15, 16, 17 and 18 shows output voltage drops at Output current = 2A. I believe there is a current limit function besides short circuit function but I cannot find the explanation in the datasheet.

Could you please let me know about below?

1. Which point does it check for 2A over current limit in the block diagram?

2. What is the condition for the 2A output current?

Block diagram shows the current sensor for measuring drain-source of the high side FET. I guess it works for 2A current limit. Could you please let me know the current sensor condition/criteria to detect Over current status of the current sensor?

Hi Nagata,

For your question, please see section 8.5.2 of datasheet for detail. And you can check the max output current on your application quickly by see Figure 20, 22, 43.

And below is the current limit spec of input current, so there's a current sensor on buck side high-side MOSFET to do this.

So the "2A" output current means when input voltage is high enough to make sure input current will not trigger limit, the device can support 2A output at full temperature range(-40~125°C) and full Vout range(5~9V).

Thank you for your support. Do you have 3.3V Vout figure? Figure 20, 22 and 43 show 7V and 9V output.

Hi Nagata,

Figure 43 shows 5V output. 3.3V Vout means the power level is lower, so the situation will not be worse. Thanks.
