Tool/software:
Hi,
I am looking to develop a PCB using one of Texas Instrument's pulse width modulator IC's for the purpose of cycling a MOSFET between closed and open to allow current to flow and stop flowing for certain periods of time depending on a voltage signal for example that is applied to the IC.
I''m not sure if the TL494 is the correct PWM IC for my desired application so I could use some guidance.
Essentially I have a 12.6 V battery source and I wish to adjust the amount of time the load is able to pull power from the battery pack via the pulse width modulator IC to achieve a high, medium and low setting whereby in the high setting, the MOSFET will always be closed, for the medium setting the MOSFET will cycle between closed and open for a period of time and for the low setting the MOSFET will cycle between closed and open for a different period of time.
Any guidance you can provide regarding a pulse width modulator that would be ideal for my application would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Joe DeWitt
