LP8733: Datasheet feedback

Part Number: LP8733

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Wanted to pass along some feedback from our customer on the LP8733 datasheet.

Why do we reference OTP when this programming occurs during manufacturing? It feels a little convoluted and gives the impression that the device will be user-programmable which leads to confusion when checking the OPNs offered and their corresponding technical references with the preset OTP registers. It would be easier to follow if it were like a standard part's datasheet which simply lists the parameter differences between each OPN without having to cross-reference the technical references.

Heart of the matter is that it doesn't feel necessary to include OTP in the datasheet at all if it can't be truly modified by the end user and we don't have OPNs that encapsulate all possible register configurations.

Best,

Sam

  • Hi Sam,

    Thanks for your feedback.

There are always multiple interpretations about same thing and usually history related to decision call this memory as OTP but in reality it means it is already programmed during manufacturing.

Reason why we don't include all in DS is that these are not standard part's. Device operation can drastically differ from OTP/OPN to other and for that reason technical reference manual is many times quite crucial. Also we don't want to extensively update DS when we release new OPN.

We have internal compare table between variants for LP8733-Q1 but let's see if we could retrieve this available to customers as well.
