BQ34Z100-G1: lerning cycle does not complete

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi all,

Lerning cycle does not complete. Update status is 5.

New BAT_log.xlsxNew BAT_.gg.csv

1) Do you have a correct procedure for lerning cycle? I would appreciate it if you could tell me where it is written in the datasheet or TRM.

Is there a way to change the Update status from 5 to 6?

2) How accurate is the actual capacity calculation of this IC? I would appreciate it if you could tell me roughly or under ideal conditions.

3) My customer uses the detection resistance of the actual 4 mΩ, but the EVM is 10mΩ.

Calibration is performed after writing the GF obtained from the demo board.

At that time, the values of CC delta and CC offset are about 4. In this state, the error that CC delta is over the settable value appears. Is the detection resistance of 4mΩ not supported?

4) Why does RC not rise for a while after charging starts?

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hi Ryusuke,

I recommend waiting until the learning cycle is completed before evaluating parameters such as soc.

    What Chemid is being used?

    How was this chemid selected?

    Regards,

    Diego

  • Hi Diego,

    Thank you for your reply.

    The ChemID is #0815.

The battery is used in 2 series on a 12V (FML12170) Lead Acid Battery.

    1) I am looking for document to do the learning cycle.

I found the following document on the web. Can my customer do the learning cycle correctly if I do it with reference to the following part?

4555.How to Complete a Successful Learning Cycle for the BQ34z100.pdf

    2) I think the Learning Cycle is charged and discharged twice, but the lead-acid battery deteriorates significantly in the first floor charge and discharge.

Is it OK to shorten the relaxation time to an hour?

    3) How accurate is the actual capacity calculation of this IC? I would appreciate it if you could tell me roughly or under ideal conditions.

    4) My customer uses the detection resistance of the actual 4 mΩ, but the EVM is 10mΩ.

    Sorry for the many questions.

I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

  • Hi Diego,

    How is the progress?

    I would appreciate any reply.

    Best Regards,

    Ryusuke

  • Hi,

    1) BQ34Z100-G1 Technical Reference Manual (Rev. A) Chapter 11 in the trm has a better learning cycle steps in my opinion.

Here is a more general document. Achieving The Successful Learning Cycle

    2) The battery needs to be fully relaxed before proceeding with the learning cycle process.

    3) This is dependent on application.

    4) They need to send the cal_enable cmd and enter_cal cmd. I recommend using the calibration tab on BQstudio.

    5) It should, is the accumulated charge reported in the passed (Q) charge?

    Regards,

    Diego

  • Hi Diego,

Thank you for your reply and documents,

    2) I think the Learning Cycle is charged and discharged twice, but the lead-acid battery deteriorates significantly in the first floor charge and discharge.

Is it OK to shorten the relaxation time to an hour?

→(TI)The battery needs to be fully relaxed before proceeding with the learning cycle process.

→About Relax time after discharge, When VOK=0, REST=0, RUP_DIS=0, and UpdateStatus becomes 0x04, it is considered that the Relax time is complete?

    Best Regards,

    Ryusuke

  • Hi Diego,

How is the progress on this question?

I am asking the register value about the relaxation time after discharge.

Could you give me an answer by next Monday?

    Best Regards,

    Ryusuke
