EV2400 with Windows 7 64-bit - bqEVSW Unable to Detect EV2400

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and am having difficulty establishing communication with the EV2400.  I have version 0.9.59 bqEVSW installed for the bq20z70 and the bq20z75 fuel gauge ICs.

Upon initial connection of the EV2400, Windows did detect the EV2400, searched for, and installed a USB driver.

When I start the bqEVSW, I receive the following popup message:

    The EV2300 connection could not be Initiated!  Please close this program and try again.

  I then click on "OK" and the bqEVSW Supported Targets window pops up.  When I select my target and click on "Confirm Selection" I get the following popup window:

     No USB board was detected!  Please close this application first!
     Then make sure that the EV2300 is connected and then restart the program!

The USB, COMM, and VOLTEN LEDs are illuminated on the EV2400

    For older software to work, you will need to install the support components that enable the software to see use EV2400 and EV2300.

    It is available for download from the EV2400 wiki page

    Hello Shirish or any other guru familiar with Windows 7,

    I am trying to set up the EVSW tool to work with a bq28400 EVM board. It looks like I have what appears to be a similar problem as the original post. I use Window 7 Pro 64-bit, not an old version of MS Windows and receive this notice. The s/w version is the current version on the TI Tools site that I found earlier today Feb 21 2012.


    Following your earlier advice, I located both the EV2300 drivers and the EV2400 drivers through your helpful links in this thread. Alas, I installed both of them first, rebooted, then launched the bq EVSW installer. The same sad result ensued :-(

    Can you help? I see you also wrote the readme file that goes with this software. Will a non-preliminary version come soon? Any way you can make Windows 7 a supported OS even though few packages have a problem with the migration? Let me know any other tricks to try or sequencing of driver installs that may be out of order.

    Secondly, I have the bq28400 EVM board connected through a mini USB cable. I get this dialogue box after a message saying no USB board is connected. I see 5V on the VOUT clip so USB VBUS is getting to the board since no battery stack is added yet.  So how do I tell which board I have? There is no indicator on the board nor the shipping box that looks anything like these codes.  Please provide a decoder ring, magical or not.

    Angela,

    Are you using the EV2300 or the EV2400?

    The Windows 64 bit drivers for the EV2300 are available at

    Ignore the Windows 98 SE message box and cancel the EV2300 driver install on Win 7 64 bit system. For Win 7 64 bit, install the 64 bit drivers.

    The problem went away with a driver reload and resetting some cabling after redoing the setup. There may have been something loose.
